SHAMS ED-DIN MOHMMAD TABRIZIShams ed Dîn Tabrizî, is a Sufi mystic born in Tabriz and died in 1248. He is responsible for the initiation of Jalâl ud Dîn Rûmî, also known under the name of Rûmî, Mevlana or Molana to Islamic mysticism, and was immortalized by Rumis collection of poems entitled Diwan-e Shams-e Tabrîzî ("The Works of Shams of Tabriz"). Shams and Rumi lived together in Konya, now Turkey, for several years, and he is also known to have traveled to Damascus, now Syria.Shams, the bird, has flown away and we are left with only these words helping us to stroll from time to time under the vault of its sky and to fill our lungs with its always lively, always fresh air.
